Comparison

Looking for a Fresha alternative?

Most salon platforms are a booking app with reports bolted on. TressyPOS is a point of sale and a double-entry accounting engine that happen to share one database — on one flat price, with billing that survives an outage.

Start with the right question

Most comparisons between salon platforms turn into a feature checklist, and every serious product ticks most of the boxes. Online booking, reminders, a client list, a loyalty scheme — assume everybody has those. The differences that actually change how your business runs are narrower, and there are about four of them.

This page explains where TressyPOS sits on each. We would rather you ask these questions of every vendor you look at, including us, than take a comparison table at face value.

1. Does it produce books, or reports?

This is the one that separates products. Nearly all salon software aggregates sales and presents it as a dashboard. That is reporting. It cannot tell you what the business is worth, what you owe, or whether last night's cash matched the books.

TressyPOS runs a double-entry ledger underneath the till. Every sale, expense, purchase, staff advance, salary and bank transfer posts a balanced debit and credit to a Chart of Accounts you control. The result is a live Trial Balance, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, ledgers with running balances, AR/AP aging and a fixed-asset register — produced by the same engine that rang the sale, so there is nothing to reconcile between the two.

The practical effect is at month end. Instead of exporting a sales CSV and paying someone to rebuild the accounts from it, your accountant receives a Trial Balance. See the accounting suite.

2. What happens when the internet drops?

A cloud-only system is excellent until the line is not. TressyPOS writes the ticket locally and queues it, then syncs automatically when the connection returns. Staff never fall back to paper, and no sale is lost. If your area has unreliable power or broadband, this one point may matter more than every feature on the list.

3. What does it really cost?

Compare the total, not the headline. Some platforms are free or cheap at the front and earn from payment processing, marketplace commission on new clients, or paid modules. None of that is wrong — but it belongs in the comparison, so work out what a typical month costs you all-in under each model.

TressyPOS is one flat subscription: $49 a month, $249 for six months, or $399 for a year. Every feature is included, there are no per-module add-ons or setup fees, and we take no commission on your bookings or your card payments. See pricing.

4. Can you leave with your data?

Ask before you commit, not after. In TressyPOS every report exports to Excel and PDF, and backup to your own storage is one click. Your clients and your ledgers stay yours.

What else is in the box

Where we would not claim an advantage

Being straight about it: if what you want is a consumer marketplace that sends you new clients, that is a different product and we do not do it. TressyPOS is the system you run the business on, not a channel that finds customers for you. If marketplace demand is your main reason for choosing software, weigh that honestly.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main difference between TressyPOS and a booking-first platform?

Where the accounting lives. Booking-first platforms give you sales reports; TressyPOS runs a real double-entry ledger underneath the till, so it can produce a Trial Balance, Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet that an accountant can audit. That is a difference in architecture, not a longer feature list.

How does TressyPOS charge?

One flat subscription with every feature included: 49 US dollars a month, 249 for six months, or 399 for a year. There is no per-module add-on, no setup fee, and no commission taken on your bookings or your card payments. Whatever you charge your client is yours.

Can I keep working if the internet goes down?

Yes. Billing continues locally and queues, then syncs automatically when the connection returns. This is the main practical difference from a cloud-only system on a shaky line.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Reports export to Excel and PDF, and there is one-click backup to your own storage. Your client list, ledgers and history remain exportable at any time.

What should I actually compare when switching salon software?

Four things decide it in practice: whether the system produces real books or only sales reports; whether billing survives an outage; what the total cost is once add-ons and any transaction fees are counted; and whether you can export your own data. Ask each vendor those four questions, including us.

Do you help move data across from our current system?

Yes. Existing clients, services, staff and product lists can be imported from spreadsheets during onboarding, and support is available by email, WhatsApp and live chat while you switch.
